Market-neutral and quantitative funds topped the South African hedge fund tables in September, with the category adding a median 0.49% as the FTSE/JSE All Share Index dropped -2.55% and the All Bond Index fell -2.37%.
By comparison, the MSCI All World Index declined by -4.45%, the MSCI Emerging Markets Index fell -2.81% and the MSCI Frontier Markets Africa Index lost -2.67%.
Fixed income funds declined by a median -0.27% in September, while long/short equity funds declined by a median -0.96% and single-manager multi-strategy funds retraced by -1.11%.
