The HedgeNews Africa South Africa Single Manager Composite added a median 1.13% in July and is now 4.53% higher for the year so far.
In South African markets, the FTSE/JSE All Share Index gained 4.01% on a total return basis for the month, while the All Bond Index added 2.29%.
Fixed income funds made good strides, with the category gaining a median 1.27% for the month.
Multi-strategy funds gained a median 1.14% in July and are now 4.13% higher on the year whilst long/short equity funds produced a median gain of 1.04% for the month to sit 4.52% higher on the year.
