Hedge funds flat in February

South African hedge funds came in flat in February, with the HedgeNews Africa South Africa Single Manager Composite adding 0.03% for the month as stocks and bonds declined.

The FTSE/JSE All Share Index lost -2.19% for the month while South Africa’s All Bond Index declined by -0.87%. Further afield, the MSCI World Index dropped -2.53% while the MSCI Frontiers Markets Africa Index put on 2.49%.

Market neutral and quantitative funds were the best performers in February, adding 0.93%, while single-manager multi-strategy funds dipped a median -0.03%.

Fixed income funds dipped -0.27% on a median basis while long/short equity funds declined by -0.36%. Copyright. HedgeNews Africa – March 2023.
