South African hedge fund strategies were positive in August, with the HNA SA Single-Manager Composite adding a median 0.76% as the FTSE/JSE All Share Index lost -1.84% and the All Bond Index dipped -0.37%.
Long/short equity funds and fixed income funds each gained a median 0.86%, to both sit more than 3% higher for the year so far while the JSE is down by 6.18%.
Market neutral and quantitative funds added a median 0.7% in August, while multi-strategy funds rose a median 0.63%.
Amongst pan African mandates, African debt funds outperformed equity funds for the month, although most remain in the red year to date across asset class. Copyright. HedgeNews Africa – August 2022.
