Funds in the HedgeNews Africa database bounced back in June after a tough May, with the HedgeNews Africa South African Single-Manager Composite adding a median 0.72% to sit 4.73% higher year to date.
The broader HedgeNews Africa Single-Manager Composite, which includes Africa-focused funds, gained a median 0.83% to sit 4.64% higher by mid-year.
Fixed income was the best performing category in June, gaining a median 1.62% to sit 4.95% higher for the year.
Long/short equity funds delivered a broad range of returns, adding a median 0.69% to sit 7.33% higher year to date, while market neutral and quantitative funds added a median 0.46% in June to sit 4.21% in the green year to date.
Multi-strategy funds had a good month, adding a median 0.91% to sit 5.74% higher year to date.
