Funds in the HedgeNews Africa database continued to make gains in 2019, adding a median 0.88% in March and 3.73% for the quarter.
The broader HedgeNews Africa Single-Manager Composite, which includes Africa-focused portfolios, gained a median 0.9% for the month to sit 4.09% in the green year to date.
Long/short equity was the best-performing strategy for the month, adding a median 1.47% to record a 6.07% gain for the quarter, while fixed income funds had their strongest month for the year, adding a median 1.01% to sit 2.21% higher for the quarter.
