We aim to generate positive returns and create long-term value for our investors while positively impacting the communities in which we invest and operate.

In 2003, Novare launched Novare Investments, offering South African funds of hedge funds, unit trusts, an offshore fund of funds and bespoke solutions to meet different investor objectives and risk appetites.

OUR HEDGE FUND OF FUNDS

Novare Investments’ award-winning flagship hedge fund of funds, Mayibentsha, launched as one of South Africa’s first, gives investors an easy way to access a range of leading local hedge funds.

Each fund has a clearly defined investment objective, risk profile, and return target. There are three funds to choose from:

  • Novare Mayibentsha Market Neutral FR Qualified HFoF (moderate risk)
  • Novare Mayibentsha Moderate FR Qualified HFoF (moderate to aggressive risk)
  • Novare Mayibentsha Focused FR Qualified HFoF (moderate to aggressive risk)

Each fund aims to preserve capital while delivering strong risk-adjusted returns.

Our deep and unique insights into the hedge fund industry, combined with years of multi-manager experience, enable us to carefully blend some of South Africa’s best hedge fund managers into one fund.

The hedge fund strategies we invest in include, but are not limited to, traditional long/short funds; market neutral funds; fixed income arbitrage; and commodities.

OUR SOUTH AFRICAN UNIT TRUST FUNDS

Our unit trust funds provide investors with an easy and cost-effective way to invest in various asset classes such as equities, bonds and property.

We offer a range of multi-managed funds, each with a clearly defined investment objective, risk profile and return target. Each fund aims to deliver strong risk-adjusted returns.

  • Novare FR Capital Preserver Fund of Funds (conservative risk)
  • Novare FR Balanced Fund (moderate risk)
  • Novare FR High Growth Fund (moderate to aggressive risk)

OUR OFFSHORE FUNDS

We have operated in the offshore multi-manager space for over 18 years, giving us an extensive network of global asset managers and offshore capabilities across various asset classes.

We offer access to a unique range of offshore fund managers not typically accessible to South African investors. Our offshore funds are not approved for distribution in South Africa by the FSCA and are only available via select institutional investment channels.

The Nexus Global Equity Fund is approved for distribution in South Africa in terms of section 65 of the Collective Investments Schemes Control Act and available to retail investors.

OUR TAILORED OR BESPOKE SOLUTIONS

For institutional clients whose objectives fall outside our multi-managed funds, we build bespoke portfolios matched to their investment needs and risk appetite.

These can be specialist or balanced mandates. They can cover South African equities, bonds, property, hedge funds, other alternatives and offshore assets.

Working with the client, we handle:

  • Asset allocation
  • Manager research and selection
  • Portfolio construction

  • Manager diversification: access to a range of fund managers
  • Active management: portfolios monitored and adjusted on an ongoing basis
