South African hedge funds added a median 1.22% in November as the FTSE/JSE All Share Index dipped -0.94% and South Africa’s All Bond Index added 3.03%.
By comparison, the MSCI All World Index gained 4.52% for the month, while the MSCI Emerging Markets Index fell -3.66%.
South African market neutral and quantitative funds were the best performing category in November, adding a median 1.61% for the month, while long/short funds added a median 1.36%, to make them the best performing category for the year so far, up 18.98%.
Fixed income hedge funds rose 1.11% in November, while multi-strategy funds put on a median 0.45% for the month.
South African fund of hedge funds had another solid month, gaining a median 1.13% in November.
