The CAEP RCIS Fixed Income Retail Hedge Fund is a moderate to cautious fixed income hedge fund using a broad range of strategies to produce consistent returns over a rolling three-year period. The fund is designed for investors looking to earn attractive returns without taking on undue risk. Targeting STeFI Call +3% with relatively low volatility, the
fund aims to provide a steady and reliable source of performance.

INVESTMENT STRATEGY

The fund offers a considered solution for those seeking to balance return and stability in their portfolios. The fund looks towards a Core/Satellite approach and strategies being utilised include portable alpha, derivative hedges, repo, and selective exposure to currencies and commodities, all applied with a clear focus on capital preservation.

INVESTMENT TEAM

The fund is managed by Anthea Gardner as an authorised representative of CAEP Asset Managers (Pty) Ltd, with the support of her research analyst team at Cartesian Capital, who takes an active and flexible approach to identifying opportunities across the yield curve.
Gardner brings many decades of market experience, founding Cartesian in 2014, having worked previously at local and global investment banks such as HSBC and Rand Merchant Bank in Johannesburg, Morgan Stanley in London and the African Development Bank in Tunis. She is unique in her approach to managing funds as she has worked across both fixed income and equities fund management and has a first class master’s pass in Derivative pricing methodologies.
Gardner is supported by her well-regarded research and investment team who have a combined seven decades of experience and have been through three decades of market cycles.
