Greenpoint was established in 2011 and has a 13 year + track record in managing Private Credit funds in South Africa. During this time, we have invested over R4.2bn in 75+ deals. We operate from offices in both Johannesburg and Cape Town, with a team comprising ten investment professionals with extensive experience in investing in and managing Private Credit investments.

Greenpoint aims to provide constructive growth capital solutions to high quality medium-sized businesses with strong management teams in South Africa. Our approach is to form long term relationships with our investee companies, supporting them as both their funding requirements and the economic environment they operate in change over time.

Investment philosophy

As a pioneer of Private Credit in South Africa, Greenpoint has established a deep network of relationships across private and institutional investors, mid-market companies and advisers. Our investment philosophy is anchored on capital preservation and risk mitigation, and we emphasise consistency in investment returns over time. We achieve this through a time-refined and highly selective investment process, and as specialists in our field (focusing only on Private Credit), we are able to differentiate ourselves through our unique deal sourcing capability and highly responsive approach.

Senior team

Ryan Wood-Collier (CFA)
Ryan co-founded and is CEO of Greenpoint. Having spent over 14 years in London working at Close Brothers in the private credit and restructuring markets, he returned to South African in 2013 and has been managing Greenpoint Capital’s private credit funds since then. Ryan started his career in London at PwC focused on M&A and restructuring during which time he completed his CFA.

Nic van Zyl (CA(SA))
Nic joined Greenpoint Capital in 2017 having spent over 10 years with Investec Group operating in the UK and South African leveraged finance and private equity markets. Nic started his career at Deloitte South Africa having completed his BCom Financial Accounting at Stellenbosch followed by a Masters degree in Management Research from Oxford. Nic completed his CA at Investec as a member of the CA Program.
