Former Oryx head of operations, John Versfeld, has joined the Peregrine Fund Platform as it beefs up its back and mid-office capabilities.
Versfeld will work alongside the fund platform’s financial director, Tania Waller, reporting directly to Peregrine group CEO Jan van Niekerk. He will focus on special projects, existing operations and help to maintain the quality of service which the platform’s clients have become used to.
Before joining Peregrine, Versfeld was head of operations at Oryx Investment Management in Cape Town for three and a half years, overseeing the operation of multiple funds in varying jurisdictions.
He previously worked in the UK, most recently as an associate director at UBS Investment Bank for a year and prior to that with JP Morgan Chase Bank for four years. He has a BCom degree from the University of Natal.
The fund platform, which was established in 2002, provides hedge fund managers with a comprehensive and integrated platform for their funds. It offers specialised support for day-to-day operational requirements including accounting, administration, risk management, corporate governance, legal and compliance responsibilities and client servicing.
There are now 15 funds on the platform, with assets under administration of R3.7 billion.Copyright. HedgeNews Africa – November 2010.
